Case Study: Project Matador forms one of the single largest value projects within our portfolio. At an approximate contract value of £1.62m and spread over a phased programme of almost 6 months this represented the company with a challenge to say the least, but once again, we delivered on-time and to a very high standard.
In early 2016 one of our main client’s, Whitbread PLC assigned us to undertake Project Matador which consisted of a full refurbishment of the existing hotel reception foyer, introduction of a new restaurant toilet block, conversion of existing Thyme restaurant to their new Bar and Block brand and complete refurbishment of the existing Costa Coffee. Added to this the project also included the installation of a new glazed shopfront which allowed an extension on the existing restaurant space.
Operating in a live environment Premier Inn, Kings Cross allowed us to utilise our full expertise and experience of the leisure industry fit out sector. Working closely on a daily basis with the Project Manager and Design Team the project passed by with minimum disruption to day to day operations in one of London’s busiest hotels.
Commencing with the hotel reception foyer refurbishment in the early summer, which included a full scale bedroom window replacement scheme and cladding of a five storey lift shaft, then moving onto the introduction of a brand new Bar and Block restaurant into the existing restaurant space, we completed the project by completion of Costa Coffee a fortnight prior to Christmas.
Kings Cross is one of the landmark sites within the Premier Inn estate, the site is now one of which will stand as a benchmark to the future of Whitbread’s future development.
